
Adele Mara April 28, 1923 until May 7, 2010.) was an American singer, actress, and dancer, who was a part of films during the 1940s and 1950s[2] and on television during the 1950s and 1960s. Adele St. Mara was her name professionally. She received an agreement with Columbia Pictures [citation needed]. She was able to work in comedy shorts as well as "B" feature films in the studio. In the end, she was shortened to Adele Mara. Mara was a receptionist in Three Stooges' film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks were the sisters of Rita Hayworth in the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. She plays the role of Alias Boston Blackie (1942) as the sister of an innocently accused and freed prisoner. She moved to Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was cancelled. The studio specialized in films based on westerns and outdoor adventures. [citation needed] She appeared in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch which starred John Wayne, Angel in Exile (leading lady), Sands of Iwo Jima with John Wayne in which she was John Agar's love interest, California Passage (leading lady) as well as Don Siegel's Count the Hours (supporting role).
